Job content
AufgabenDynamic Modeling and Simulation Development:
- Maintain the existing Modelica-based tool and models (debugging, updates, release management, etc.).
- Enhance and modify existing Modelica-based models, focusing on heat exchangers and thermal storage models.
- Develop closed-loop heat pump system models for new plant layouts and refrigerants.
- Validate existing models (components and complete system) using experimental data or supplier-provided information (e.g., heat exchangers).
- Conduct sensitivity analysis simulation runs and analyze component limitations.
- Dynamic Simulation Tool Usage for R&D and Engineering Support:
- Implement real industrial project-based dynamic operation scenarios, such as start-up, shut-down, and grid stability balancing with fast load/power variation.
- Utilize simulation results to determine operational limitations, collaborating with the Engineering team.
- Propose and verify novel control and operation strategies.
- Evaluate refrigerant fluid transfer during maintenance operations.
- Assess performance variation of heat exchangers under off-design conditions.
- Validate novel heat pump features through dynamic simulations.
- Pre-dimension equipment, followed by iterative clarifications with sub-suppliers.
- Develop novel energy import and export concepts based on existing load profiles (e.g., energy management optimization concepts).
Education & Experience:
- MSc in mechanical engineering (Technical University degree).
- PhD is an advantage.
- Specialization in energy conversion or turbo-machinery.
- Mandatory in-depth knowledge of thermodynamics.
- Mandatory experience with transient modeling.
- Preferable knowledge/experience in process engineering.
- Preferable knowledge/experience in heat exchanger design.
- Preferable experience in testing and experimental tool validation.
- Preferable experience in CO2 energy system design or testing.
- A plus if previous experience with ETES or a similar PHES (pumped heat energy storage) or Carnot Batteries system.
- Mandatory experience in Modelica.
- Preferable excellent programming knowledge in Python or Matlab.
- Preferable good knowledge in Excel.
- Strong programming and simulation capability, assiduity, and enthusiasm.
- Capable of autonomously solving complex problems.
- Analytical thinking and working assiduity.
